Older Women Rise
Images of older women remain scarce across the media and the arts in the West. This
series of photographs focuses on older women from diverse class and cultural
backgrounds on protests in London from 2017 - 20. It highlights the vitality, strength,
and courage through which older women challenge and actively engage with the
world, notwithstanding physical constraints. Older women’s critical attention to
contemporary political issues is informed and enriched by their long experience of
living. The series forms part of a larger project on older women’s lives.
